Saturday August 27th Field of Dreams volunteers reduced the concrete rubble by about 30,000 pounds. Among those that might be feeling it in their backs today Mike Veliquette, Gary Cox, Bill Chatham, Sean Galloway, Alyssa Gunderson, Mike Strombeck and Sam Triplett. Also helping to load the dumpsters LeGette Elementarys’ new principal Dennis Pedersen. Our able tractor drive Roger Smith brought his Kubota to the site and gave us a mechanical lift.

We discovered that a significant amount of the pile is dirt from the grading process and does not need to be removed. A tractor will spread the pile out to make it easier to remove the remaining pieces of concrete. The two full dumpsters will be removed and two empty ones brought to the site.

Project Manager Jim Hartley worked to reinforce the perimeter fencing and replace sprinkler heads.

On Sunday Mike Strombeck brought in a mini excavator and dug out a trench that revealed the long sought irrigation supply pipe that we need to tap into to water the new fields. This was a major “must do” for the project. Not only did Mike excavate the pipe, he did it without nicking the pipe which carries a pressure of 120 psi. We can now order the materials to build the irrigation system in time to plant the grass seed. Jim Hartley and Larry Masuoka provided digging instructions without the use of a water witching stick.

Thanks to Kyle Dmitrenko and his son for reducing the tree in the rubble pile with his chainsaw. Dave Haskell and Phil Smith also assisted with the water pipe project.
