The Varsity Softball team took infield on its home field, less than an hour after volunteers with their equipment cut the infield out of the general athletic field.
The outfield has been aerated and seeded, and will grow into field quality as Spring approaches. Plans are being made to import quality infield soil and pack it in; bids are being collected for the backstop, fencing and dugouts; and commemorative brick sales are brisk.
There will be news on many fronts in the weeks ahead - look for announcements on work days to help groom the field into shape, fundraisers to pay off the cost for the backstop, and the outcome of meetings scheduled for next week with community business leaders, to find a place for their support.
