Managers Needed and Appreciated

The Fields are built, and the next phase is being planned. But we need to maintain what we’ve built.

Irrigation. We have 3 central controllers for Band, Field Hockey/Lacrosse, Soccer, and Football Practice/Discus that need to be monitored and coordinated, and we are looking for someone to become our WaterMaster. This person would take ownership of the sprinkler settings. If a team believes they need more water or less, they would request this of the WaterMaster. Likewise if the sprinklers need to come on at a different time, or turned off before a game. Other people could make the change, if the WaterMaster knows what is being changed and approves of it. If you can handle a sprinkler controller and would enjoy working with a few different clubs, please let jhartley07@gmail.com know.

Fertilizer and Weeding. Over time the fields will need aerating and fertilizing. Right now, weeding is an overwhelming task that all clubs need to help on (see other post). The best model for this is the Band Practice field, for which Band parent Dave Haskell serves as the leader for turf maintenance. We need the same for the other fields. Send an email to jhartley07@gmail.com. if you are a good point of contact for FH/L, Soccer, or FB/D.

Mowing. There is a good group of people who are actively mowing the sod to keep it and all other fields at playing height. If you want to know about this, talk to your coach (of lacrosse, field hockey, soccer, softball, baseball or football) or email Bill Wesley at wmwesley@sbcglobal.net or Jim Wright at wrightjim@hotmail.com (soccer, especially).

Incidental Repairs and Maintenance. This is a solid group of volunteers that have and will continue to respond to ad hoc requests for help. Gail Kobetich, Mike White, Les Will are the three brightest stars in our volunteer constellation. Updates for this appear on this website, and in emails to a select group. Send your email address to jhartley07@gmail.com if you’d like to receive email notifications of work day activities.
