The Spring Sport seasons are wrapping up, the weather is transitioning from cool to warm, and the grass would grow and strengthen for the long hot summer - if it could just get enough water now.
So, beginning April 27, the irrigation settings are set to go off 3 times per week in the early morning hours, for a total of 90 minutes per week per station. For FH/LAX, Band Practice, Soccer and DiSoFo, the water is applied in 15 minute increments (soak sequence). The actual times are shown on the attached figure. If you look carefully on this figure, you’ll see how there are no overlaps between any two stations - this is how the 24 stations of these five fields can share the same water supply, as well as turn off before school starts. As you all know well, there are just so many hours in a 24-hour day!
This figure also shows that there is also a late evening “supplemental” cycle. We used this late evening cycle in April to restore the Stadium field, and are applying it to Band Practice and Soccer to encourage turf growth in those fields in May. This cycle operates between 9pm and Midnight, and has the effect of adding 36 minutes per week per station on Band Practice, 45 minutes for Soccer, and 140 minutes for the Stadium.
If you are taking personal care of one of these fields, THANK YOU. If so, and you want to change the irrigation settings for that field, please use the attached figure as a guide, and let me know at jhartley07@gmail.com what you have done (I will use your input to change the Master schedule, and the table below).
You can also use this email to provide feedback to me (”It’s too wet” “It’s too hard/dry” “One of the sprinkler heads is broken” etc.) that I will use to make sure the fields are kept up.
