Tennis on Campus Update

Our current tennis courts have long suffered from the settlement under the western end, due to the poor condition of an abandoned septic system dating from the 1960s.

The San Juan District has promised to properly close that system. The bad news: the courts that lie on top of it will have to be demolished to gain access to the underground work site. The good news: the District’s project will include replacing the pavement, the fence, and any net posts pulled out. More bad news: the District’s funds to accomplish this are dependent on the resolution of the State Budget, which is expected to include cuts to education budgets. If there’s good news after that, it’s that we are planning for this work to happen by summer 2010, if not 2009.
