We are within a week or two of knowing if the bids the District receives will cover the cost of replacing the courts as is, or… expanding the tennis courts to the size needed for the teams to play on campus. This would mean extending the east end of the fenced area 30 ft or so into the current blacktop area, and widening the between-court spacings from 8 and 11 feet to something like 15. This would make it possible for league matches to be held on campus, so is the plan we want. It’s the plan the teams want, and this is all about helping the BV Tennis Players be everything they can be!The District has a set budget, which we are very fortunate to benefit from in this time of budget shortfalls. If the bids to expand the courts (as well as close the septic system) come in within that budget, we’re in good shape. This is possible, but not likely. If the bids come in a little short, we - the Bella Vista and Fair Oaks Tennis and Athletic Communities - will need to come up with enough to cover the difference. Our plans are to partner with the Fair Oaks Park & Recreation District, whose members stand to benefit on weekends from better courts at BV; to solicit funding from the USTA; and to seek support from any and all quarters to make the expanded courts a reality. If you have any interest in learning more, or being a part of what’s being planned, contact Steve Germoles at sgermoles@comstockmortgage.com.
